Emerald City Comic Con always brings a lively atmosphere, and this year was no exception. The energy in the convention hall was contagious and at times a bit overwhelming but overall, it’s part of the convention hustle.
I was only able to attend a couple of panels, primarily due to the reservation system and long standby lines, which unfortunately didn’t guarantee a spot. However, I was lucky enough to catch the Once Upon a Time and Evil Dead panels which were both superb. Interestingly, there was plenty of room in both, even without a reservation, which was a nice surprise.
One of my favorite parts was “The Kraken’s Keep,” the themed tavern area—it was a fun, immersive space to relax and recharge. And as always, the Star Wars room was a highlight, filled with fantastic characters to interact with and plenty of photo opportunities.
As for the autograph lines, they were quite chaotic. I’ve been to ECCC before, but this was by far the worst I’ve seen in terms of waiting times and organization. That said, the event did a great job handling the multiple buildings by having staff outside with clear signage, which helped a lot with navigation. Still, it can be a bit confusing when the convention spreads across different areas.
A few tips for future attendees: Stay hydrated and bring comfortable walking shoes (trust me, your feet will thank you!). Food is available to purchase on-site, but having small snacks on hand can really help keep your energy up throughout the day.
All in all, Emerald City Comic Con remains a fantastic experience, though I’d suggest planning ahead for the lines and making reservations early if you want to ensure you get into the panels you’re most interested in.
