Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered Brings Nostalgic Adventure

Lara Croft returns with the remastered versions of Tomb Raider IV-VI which makes the action-laden adventures available for a new generation of gamers and modern platforms.

I remember the original versions of the series well from oddly shaped boxes to system hogging requirements which strained the 386, 486, and Pentium systems of the time for some but produced a captivating gameplay experience that set a new standard for adventure games.

The new versions were a struggle for me as playing on a PS5; I found the controls to be difficult. Lara would basically spin down stairs or take a looping path as I attempted to compensate for camera angles along with the movements needed. This became a real challenge when I had to practice my jumping.

As such it did hinder my enjoyment at times but being able to experience the games again was a treat as while the lack the sophistication of the modern games in the series; they do offer some fun gaming as well as solid nostalgia.

While the games do not match the appeal of the original trilogy; they do hold value especially for gamers who were not as familiar with the original games or for those looking to have the complete series playable without the need of older systems.

While the technical issues held the game back for me, there was enough action and adventure to say that collectors and fans of the series may want to take a look at this new set but hardcore gamers may have different expectations and be disappointed.
