Alien: Rogue Incursion Is An Atmospheric Thrill Ride Of Alien Tension

Alien: Rogue Incursion takes the battle against the Xenomorphs into the V.R. realm and has crafted a deeply immersive and loving adventure in the Alien Universe.

Playing as Zula Hendricks; who along with her Synthetic companion crash on the world of Purdan while coming to investigate a call from a known associate.

Armed with a Pulse Rifle, pistol, Motion Tracker, medical supplies, and a light, Hendricks ventures into the abandoned colony.

Blood and sign of a struggle greet her as does a Xenomorph and Zula must battle her way alone through the infested station.

The V.R. setting provided a unique and engaging experience as the highly-detailed setting comes with a world of objects that can be manipulated to open doors, save games, and more but each one brings the possibility of Alien encounters.

The weapons have to be loaded and ammunition can go quickly. I found out the hard way that depleting my Pulse Rifle did not allow for a fast reload in combat early on and attempting to wield my pistol resulted in grabbing a tool versus a weapon and that was all she wrote.

The tension is high and you will know it when the tracker pings and you search the darkness for movement. Playing in V.R. does not have the same run and fun approach of an FPS as while movement is easier than many V.R. games; I found a stand my ground approach worked best early as did having a gun and tracker ready at all times.

Players will want to take advantage of Panic Rooms that allow a save point but even those can be dangerous as one eager Alien lurked just outside a door and followed me into the room after a save.

Ammunition is not plentiful and seeing how 1/3 to 1/2 a clip can be deployed taking down an Alien only adds to the strategy.

Author Alex White has given the game a story with more impact than most would expect to find in a game as you truly feel as if you walked into an Alien movie. Not since Alien Isolation have I had a game in the series that raised my tension level to the point where I was on edge about what was to come next.

The detailed sound design only added to the tension as I heard a noise lightly even when my tracker showed nothing.

My wife sat watching and said that she saw nothing and I flashed back to Hudson and his comment about something is moving and it ain’t us.

Standing still I saw an Alien emerge crouching on a vehicle and I made a fast attack and dash up the stairs to a Panic Room to save.

The game is a must-own for Alien and action fans and is also a shining example of V.R. gaming and offers a very engaging and tense gaming experience.
