Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed Delivers Franchise Fun For All Ages

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed is the latest game based on the popular franchise and follows up on the events of the recent animated movies.

Raphael, Leonardo, Donatello, and Michelangelo are typical teens as they balance their school life with their new found status thanks to April O’Neil and strive to do good deeds and earn respect for Mutants everywhere.

Things take a turn when April goes missing and playing either solo or in pairs; must travel to save her and battle an array of enemies along the way. It is revealed that there is a bigger mystery and danger looming and the Turtles must work to save the day.

The gameplay is largely side-scrolling but there are moments where players can jump and slide or use objects to travel over distances to reach key areas. This is combined with power-ups, special moves, and signature combat that varies according to each character.

The animation is in keeping with the last film and has a crisp sound and allows players the freedom to explore elements of their home before moving on to their various missions.

My biggest issue was at times the lengthy video and dialogue segments that while able to be skipped; did contain information of use but were for me distractions to the flow of the story as I just wanted to get out and into the action.

The other issue is the inability to have all four characters playable at the same time. In this day and age, there should not be a restriction on having four Turtles in the game at once as even some of the earliest games based on the franchise were able to do this and not compromise the gameplay.

The game lists at $39.99 which is a big selling point as despite some issues; it is a fun and engaging title that provides a great blend of action and adventure that fans of all ages can enjoy and is a very fun gaming experience at times.
