Frostpunk 2 Delivers An Engaging City-Building Game In an Engaging Narrative

Sometimes a review opportunity arises that asks me to review a game when for numerous reasons I have not played the prior game in the series. Such is the case with Frostpunk 2 but despite my lack of familiarity with the original game; I look forward to what the new entry has to offer. While it did take me

a little bit of time to get used to the mechanics of the game such as needing to clear an area of ice and snow before building upon it; I was impressed with the depth and scope of the game that required you to construct necessary supporting infrastructure and units in order to power up and build and maintain

your community for survival. The game is very much in the city-building genre and the alternate history the remainder of humanity attempting to survive after a catastrophic climate change rendered the world a frozen wasteland was eerily engaging.

Graphically the game stood out as early missions set in a craggy and frozen environment where objectives had to be achieved before a mega-storm arrived definitely added to the intensity.

What surprised me aside from the expected city building aspects worthy engaging narratives between the factions which caused many interesting at times unexpected player choices.

The game definitely required patience and for me, it did take a bit of time to get used to the control system which due to my unfamiliarity with the first game took a bit of learning.

That being said; the game was deeply engaging and immersed me into this fantasy scenario so much that I definitely have interest in playing the first game in the series as I enjoyed the game from start to finish.
