The crew from the Planet Express service is back as Futurama returns on Hulu. The next set of ten episodes arrives on July 29th and I was able to preview six episodes from the coming season and my wife attended their packed panel at San Diego Comic-Con.
The new shows take aim at topics such as NFTs, Squad Game, Bull Fighting, Fashion, and so much more with the futuristic yet timely humor that the series is known for.
The series follows the adventures of The Planet Express delivery crew on Earth and in space in the post 3000s with Phillip Fry (Billy West) being a character out of time as the aimless but sincere delivery boy was accidentally frozen until the year 3000 finding a very different world than what he left.
Leela (Katey Sagal) is a Mutant Cyclops and Fry’s love interest who leads the crew and is the voice of reason and a natural leader.
Bender (John DiMaggio) is a Bending Robot who fuels himself with alcohol and never misses an opportunity for graft, theft, and shady dealings even though he can be very loyal and is best friends with Fry.
The remaining cast all get their moments from Professor Farnsworth (Billy West); becoming a fashion mogul to Amy (Lauren Tom), getting a new perspective on an aspect of her wealthy family and one of their business adventures.
The series continues to offer up timely humor and strong characters and with a reported two season order of 20 new episodes coming; the future continues to be bright for the series.
