DC League of Super Pets is a new animated film starring Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart and Kate McKinnon, with a smaller part voiced by Keanu Reeves as the voice of Batman.
Krypto the Superdog (Dwayne Johnson) is feeling out of place and pushed aside by his owner Superman (John Krasinski) when Superman begins to expand his relationship with Lois Lane (Olivia Wilde).
Krypto believes he was meant to be Supermans best friend for life, and in his eyes, there is not room for anyone else to share Supermans affections.
Superman starts to look for a friend for Krypto to help keep him company, and finds himself at a local animal shelter where Ace (Kevin Hart) is plotting to make his great escape.
While Ace is plotting escape escapades, Lulu the hamster (McKinnon) is plotting to take over the city for her crush Lex Luthor, in an attempt to complete Luthors previously foiled plans.
The movie is fast paced and funny, with several laugh out loud moments. The exchanges between Krypto and Ace are quick-witted as well as meaningful at points, and Merton the turtles bleeped out lines definitely caused a reaction in the audience.
SuperPets is a story of friendship and acceptance and growth wrapped up in action, suspense and humor. Young kids will like the action and follow the story, older kids will like the humor and masked humor, and understand the concepts of growing and changing, and adults will laugh out loud at many of the references that the kids don’t catch on to.
It is a movie for the whole family to enjoy
I would give this film 3.5 out of 5 stars.
