Rogue Games Adds 2.5 Million in Funding

Sounds interesting.

Rogue Games, Inc., a leading publisher of independent
video games, today announced it has raised additional funds through a $2.5M Series A
round from Riva Technology and Entertainment to scale its team and sign new indie
and licensed games, while building out its proprietary publishing platform for
consoles, PC, and mobile. RTE is based in Dubai with previous gaming investments in
Firefly Games and OkLetsPlay. Rogue Games was established in 2019 and is
headquartered in San Mateo with offices in Los Angeles.
“We’re always on the lookout for companies that are doing new and exciting things in
their industry, which is what drew us to Rogue,” said Paul Roy, CEO of RTE. “Their
experienced, well-connected team and unique vision for games publishing has already
yielded some fantastic successes, and we know they’re just getting started. This
investment into Rogue will greatly complement the 360 degree gaming and Esports
ecosystem that we are building at RTE”
Rogue partners with game developers driving innovative, polished, off-the-wall,
funny, and sometimes twisted experiences. Its growing portfolio includes more than
20 games, including Giant Dancing Plushies (a game about kaiju stuffed animals who
dance and destroy cities) and Fisti-Fluffs (an online cat brawler). Additionally,
Rogue will continue to avidly support its successful free-to-play mobile business
while accelerating cross-platform publishing plans with this new investment.
“Some of our favorite titles of the past few years have been these batshit insane
games that came out of nowhere from super-talented developers,” said the company’s
CEO, Matt Casamassina. “We love those well-crafted and unexpected experiences, and
believe there’s a huge audience for us to entertain with those types of games.”
Rogue has a wide assortment of unique indie titles underway and has additionally
partnered with a number of top-tier licensors to publish ground up, original takes
on well-known, beloved franchises for console, PC, and mobile. More details about
these ambitious projects will be announced in the coming months.
Finally, the company plans to release some of its critically acclaimed hits, such as
the fast-pacing online racing game Super Impossible Road, across all consoles and PC
later this year. With today’s announcement, Rogue has provided a target sneak peek
of Super Impossible Road running on next-gen consoles with added real-time shadows,
reflections and volumetric lighting. The goal is to deliver next-gen owners this
incredible experience at a blistering 120fps when the game debuts later this year.

“We want the Rogue logo to encompass unique, memorable experiences, so we’re teaming
up with the best of the best—in some cases small, talented teams, but in others much
bigger, well-established studios—to build a signature portfolio of amazing, stupidly
polished titles,” Casamassina added.
Rogue provides its partners funding and a comprehensive suite of publishing
solutions and benefits made possible by a well-connected veteran team from Apple,
Activision, Disney, Sony, SEGA, IGN, Google, Treyarch, and Electronic Arts. It
recently hired a new head of studio, design lead, director of business development,
and director of marketing, to expand upon its robust list of services.
“From the moment we take on new projects, we use our team’s experience, creativity,
and collaborative approach to connect with development teams in a deeper way than
traditional publishers, which makes our games better and gives them every chance at
success,” said Rogue’s chief strategy officer, Chris Archer.
Rogue is actively on the hunt for its next wave of genre-defining games so
developers are encouraged to reach out via its website at www.rogueco.com.
