In 1987 Sierra On Line produced Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards and found great success with an adult themed adventure game. Cast as a clueless and self-proclaimed ladies man, the clueless Larry Laffer constantly got in over his head in an effort to find love.
Not counting remakes the series spawned six games before Sierra and creator Al Lowe moved away from the series. Spin Offs followed without much fanfare or success until 2018 When Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Don’t Dry arrived and breathed new life into the series with a mix of puzzles and adult themed humor.
The sequel Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Dry Twice picks up shortly after the conclusion of the prior game and tasks Larry with planning for an arranged wedding and he sets out to get his suit ready and make plans for the big day despite having serious misgivings due to it being a forced marriage and never having met the bride to be.
Undaunted he sets about his tasks and soon becomes embroiled in a much larger plot which will see Larry going from one outrageous situation to another.
Fans of the series know what to expect from the humor side of things as there are plenty of rude, crude, and not so subtle jokes along the way.
The biggest challenge for players is resource gathering and knowing what items to combine or use in order to solve puzzles. The menu can take some adjustment in terms of combining and examining items but Larry’s charming phone A.I. offers up some great humor and advice along the way.
While outside the box thinking is required; the game does not take itself too seriously and while some fans of the series such as myself prefer the original game series; this is still a nice new entry into the mix.
