How films stimulate our minds

People watch films for many different reasons, they want to laugh, relax, cry, forget about something, find consolation or maybe just kill a couple of hours.

Here’s what Wikipedia says about art – ‘Art is a diverse range of human activities in creating visual, auditory or performing artifacts (artworks), expressing the author’s imaginative, conceptual ideas, or technical skill, intended to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.’ There are many good reasons why films are considered art.

Visual artworks – visual perception is the one that gives humans the majority of information about anything and it is easily remembered. Films are mostly about visuals: perfect framing, camera angles, lights, character appearances, scenery etc.

Auditory – music and sound effects even have their own Academy Awards categories and with a good reason. They can provoke viewers’ intense emotions or memories and they add up to the overall atmosphere. Would all those sci-fi or horror films be that scary if they didn’t have the creepy sound effects that add up the tension? Probably not.

Performing is for some people the most important part, as acting skills add or subtract a lot from the overall impression and the aftertaste. Empathy is easily provoked when you truly believe what you see on the screen. Remember Joachin’s Joker or Hopkins’ Hannibal? Of course you do, even if you wish you didn’t.

Idea is the trigger for the whole process from writing the script until the premiere. Someone somewhere wanted to say something important to them. They had some sort of sex drive that made them express themselves and share the thought with the world, hoping someone would get it. The sort of urge you have when you try to find the best free sex games online.

Beauty has been a central object in art since the beginning of time. People have always admired beautiful things and wanted to capture them and save them from time extinction. Many film genres are trying to do the same thing. Preserving beauty and youth has always been inspiration for humans.

Emotions are like fuel to humans. If you are not in economy mode with people you fade out really quickly. It is all up to you and how you respond to them and steer through. But with films, you give your consent before you start watching and you don’t know what you are going to get. Emotional power is the greatest power. You may forget the fabula but you will remember how you felt at the time.

If a film is made for pure amusement and killing time, it usually contains romantic and/or erotic scenes (depending on the rating). Those scenes can easily arouse you that much you find yourself googling sex simulator for mobile phones. If you didn’t remember much of the storytelling, you sure did unleash all the tension you had and then you feel lighter and more cheerful.

Your emotional state usually influences what genre you would let yourself fall into. You choose to get lost further into your current state, you could get involved in something that would get you to the other side, or you randomly play something and get surprised. Either way, you probably don’t leave numb. Even if you watched something pointless you feel sorry for the time you had lost. Everything mentioned above is applicable to any other type of art. Forms of expression are different, but the goal is the same – stimulation.
