For gamers who grew up in the 80s and have found memories of pumping quarters into various arcade games, #Funtime has arrived.
Taking inspiration from games such as Asteroids Geometry Wars, Targ, Tempest, and countless others of the Arcade Era; players select from a Challenge or Arcade mode and move and blast their way through fields, mazes, and other arenas against populace enemies.
One moment players will be battling on a grid in an Asteroids style gameplay and the next moment they are racing through a maze to reach a goal while avoiding or destroying enemies along the way.
There is plenty of variety amongst the levels and naturally there are the classic High Scores listed which were always an inspiration to find more quarters to spend as recording your achievements and checking to see if it was still there on your next visit was part of the Arcade experience.
The speed of the game does present a challenge as working with a keyboard is not the most ideal controller for many of the modes.
While the graphics are dated by modern standards there are plenty of colors and particle effects which are a significant upgrade over the games that inspired it.
While some may want a bit more variety as it can become a tad repetitive over time the game is fun to play and in the end #Funtime is a nostalgic game that whisks you back to the era of big hair and neon.

Can’t believe that you didn’t reference Geometry Wars as an obvious inspiration here – surely you know of that series? This game draws much more from that than the older 80’s titles in my opinion.
There were so many but yes, will add it in.
