During our coverage of Wondercon 2019; I was given the chance to watch the premiere episode of the new AMC series NOS4A2.
The show is based on the book by Joe Hill and features Zachary Quinto as a mysterious figure named Charlie Manx. Charlie abducts a young boy at the start of the film and drives him to a mysterious locale. It soon becomes obvious that things are not what they seem as not only does Charlie start to de-age; he also seems to have a twisted sense of morality.
At the same time; Vic McQueen (Ashleigh Cummings) is dealing with the volatile relationship of her parents as she dreams of going to Art School when she graduates. Her father is full of encouragement but her mother reminds her of the cost of school and suggests she work with her cleaning houses.
Frustrated by the conflict around her; Vic rides into the woods and finds a covered bridge which contains clues to help her find lost items. This is further complicated when she learns that her father actually helped demolish the bridge many years earlier and yet it exists time and again for her.
There are various other sub-plots which are very intriguing as to what will unfold over the course of the series. The look of the show is great as I could not tell what era it was in as there was a lack of computers and cell phones for the most part although one person at a party seemed to have a phone.
The show looks like another winner for AMC and I cannot wait to see more when it arrives in June.
