With games becoming larger and larger in terms of storage size as well as more and more consumers storing movies and other video files; storage is always an important factor for computer users. Hard Drives have grown to have amazing storage capacities but for most consumers more is always better.
During our coverage of CES 2019, one of our team covering the show met with Western Digital and got a look at many of their amazing offerings for storage options. One such item was a 1TB SSD which allows consumers a greater range of options for easy to install and use storage.
I generally work with standard Hard Drives and Memory Sticks so we assigned the unit to a member of the staff who reported their findings back to me to summarize.
At first glance one might mistake the unit for a stick of computer Ram as it has a rectangular look to it but has the connectors on the end of the unit versus the underside like a stick of RAM. The unit it easy to setup as unlike a Hard Drive, you do not have the issues of slotting the drive, connecting the power and in many cases; chaining them to the other drives in the system.
The unit boats impressive speeds and it was great to see applications load faster than they normally do. I asked our tester if that was due to his configuration and they showed me files loading from their hard drive and then loading from the SSD and there was a notable improvement in terms of speed.
Another thing that impressed us was how cool the unit stays. The SSD has a protective covering which also helps keep the unit cool which makes it one less thing for users to worry about when working on their systems.
The unit was able to store an impressive amount of data and had access speeds which really impressed us during our evaluation. I have been so Impressed, I am thinking about using SSD in more of our systems.
