New York City, January 3, 2019 – The New York Videogame Critics Circle will host the 8th Annual New York Game Awards, honoring the best in video gaming on January 22 at SVA Theatre in New York City. From Best Game Music to Best Remake, the New York Game Awards nominations all culminate to the Big Apple Award for Best Game of the Year, all announced at the awards ceremony hosted by Emmy Award winning writers from The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.
In addition to award nominations announced today, the New York Game Awards is proud to give its Andrew Yoon Legend Award to Jade Raymond, co-creator of the Assassins Creed franchise and founder of EA Motive and Ubisoft Toronto studios. Raymond is a leading force in advancing the medium of videogames as an art form by pioneering new forms of gameplay, player agency and online games. Even more importantly, she’s been on the vanguard of making the subject matter of games more thought provoking and relevant to our world. She’ll receive the Legend Award in-person at the New York Game Awards ceremony.
When asked about Jade Raymond’s honor with the Legend Award, Critics Circle president and founder Harold Goldberg said, “From her days at Sony Online Entertainment as a programmer to this very day, Jade really has had a game-changer of a career. It makes total sense that the first woman we honor be Jade Raymond.”
