When in beautiful San Diego, we always love to stay at the Sofia Hotel whenever possible. The charming and stylish boutique hotel is located an easy distance from the airport and pier and has a great downtown locale near many entertainments, dining, and shopping options.
The city of San Diego had unexpectedly decided to tear up many segments of streets during the day of our arrival which resulted in not being able to get near the hotel easily but the helpful staff gave me directions to a lot and then advised us how to approach Valet parking.
This was a great help as although we have been to the hotel several times prior, the approach to the area was filled with detours, torn-up streets, and signs, so the unlisted detour option was a huge help.
The lobby was very inviting with an inviting lounge area where my wife opted to enjoy while I did our check-in. On our way to our room, we noticed a sign that a free Yoga class was being offered in the morning which is one of the many nice touches the hotel offers.
Our room was enjoyable and spacious as the main room offered a couch, chairs, flat-screen television, and a work desk and dresser. This came in handy as my wife had some work that she wanted to complete, so she logged into the complimentary WiFi and did her work in comfort and peace.
I opted to retire to the bedroom and used the second television in the room to watch some of the college football games that were on as I worked away on my laptop while relaxing on the very comfy bed that the room offers.
Later that evening we got ready for dinner at the amazing Currant French Bistro in the hotel and as usual, the food and service were amazing. The ambiance of the locale was perfect as we opened with gourmet Popcorn and enjoyed gourmet pork and seafood options before ending the evening with very ample and enjoyable desserts.
Our room offered a nice view of the downtown area and it was nice to enjoy the city lights as well as the ample amounts of space as we settled in for the night.
The in-room coffee was very welcome the next morning as the room also comes with two bottles of water per day as well as the option to purchase bottles of wine to further enhance your time away.
The room also offers a safe as well as plenty of closet and dresser storage which ensures that for all stays regardless of length, guests will have the space they need to settle in and relax.
Our check-out was fast and efficient and the staff was amazing as always. Our car was waiting for us as we left the lobby and the Valet made sure we did not need directions. We would love to have spent more time at the hotel but had to get to the pier to check in for a cruise.
The Sofia continues to show its charm and versatility with each visit as it is ideal for everything from business trips to simply getting away and relaxing for some time. The rooms are spacious and comfortable offering many amenities and the staff is always first-rate and friendly.
When in San Diego, make sure to check out the Sofia Hotel as you will be glad you did.
