The companion app is a great addition to any great game. It gives you that bit more access to the universe, and with mobile apps, it gives you a great way to keep track of your gaming while you are on the move. Its aim is to enrich your game experience, and while other apps don’t do that very well, there are some apps that make fantastic companions to your gameplay. Here are four out there right now to take advantage of, and make the most of your experience.
FIFA 18
The companion app to the official game that was released on console and PC may raise the bar for the companion app. It’s live on the Google Play store now, but the updated version went live before the game actually launched. It’s a free app, but you need to have an EA account, and it’s probably best to get the game before you start using the app. The purpose of it is to set up a FIFA Ultimate Team Club (FUT), which you can have complete control of and make last-minute transfers, and also help your team prepare for an upcoming game while you are on the move. This makes your gaming experience much better by the time you get home and get onto the actual FIFA 18 game. The FIFA 17 app, it isn’t! It’s got a lot of what made FIFA 17 and its companion app great, but the latest version has a brand new feature where you can get rewards by completing specific objectives, either on a daily or weekly basis. It also adds an extra layer of authenticity as you need to create an FUT account from the game itself, not the app. So, if you like your sports experience rich and detailed, try this and see if it floats your boat.
Final Fantasy 15
The Final Fantasy XV Universe has been rich and varied over the years, and the most recent one, Final Fantasy XV: A New Empire, which was released in June, is another string to Machine Zone’s bow! Essentially it’s a strategy game that has some city-building elements, you can check out the official Final Fantasy 15 site for detailed information on this. But the main thrust of the game is to build your structures by mining resources and train your armies to defend against attacking players. You join a guild and then purchase special items; you can also complete quests within specific Guilds. As a companion to the Final Fantasy XV universe, it’s is a little different in feel, but it’s a worthy addition to the overall canon.
Destiny 2
You couldn’t get away from Destiny 2 earlier this year; this app is a welcome addition to the game experience. The app lets you plan ahead for your next run, so you can get more out of your gaming when you finally sit down to the console. In addition to this, you can analyze player statistics, undertake an inspection of your Guardian, as well as look at your Grimoire. And there are also some other great features, you can connect with your community if you are in a Clan, you can also form Fireteams for different sorts of activities as well as reviewing your progress so far. The most wonderful feature of the app is the ability to customize your character so you can equip your character with all the armor you need while you are on the move.
Star Wars: Battlefront
Always handy if you are in a galaxy far, far away and you can’t get home. This companion app features the strategic card game Base Command where you can earn extra credits for the Battlefront game itself. You can also receive push notifications to get updates on anything and everything Battlefront as well as get reports of what your friends or enemies are planning. You can also find out about some special events in the game that is for the benefit of the Battlefront community. With the notification option, you can get informed whenever your friend starts playing Battlefront, and you can even see how they are progressing in the game.
The companion app has seen a massive increase in use thanks to a few great apps, and no doubt there will be more in the future that will make your gaming experience much richer. For now, these four are class acts all the way. You need never stay away from the game for too long, now you’ve got a companion by your side.
