One of the more enjoyable aspects of covering a gaming convention, is when you get a first look and hands on time with a game that was only recently announced. It is an even greater joy when the game turns out to be lots of fun and shows great promise as is the case the Amazing Eternals. The game is a mixture of First Person Shooter and collectible card game, and is going to be free to play when it is released.
The game features retro themed characters from horror and science fiction who have to battle with a range of abilities and weapons on various battlefields.
You have your run and gun style characters, healers, tankers, and so on but what really makes the game so much fun is the various cards that players can collect and use. The cards will bring n various features after a certain amount of time such as rocket launchers, special abilities, and weapons.
I played as mix of characters during our gameplay match and I was thrilled to see that I had earned 25 frags while also working to complete the objective of draining the enemies main target of much needed energy.
We were told in our pre play meeting that the game would launch with six characters but several more would come and that all content for the game would be free to play and that many future updates and characters are already in the woks.
The mix of fun and varied gameplay as well as the myriad of characters I played raging from a demon to an astronaut made this one of my most enjoyable moments form day one of PAX West.
