Recently I spoke with actor John D. Hickman about his career. The Alabama native won a contest to appear on True Blood and the rest as they say is history.
What can you tell us about your character?
My latest Character I just wrapped this week is Emperor Purple Guy . He is the evil leader in the film Avengers of Justice
How did you prepare for the role?
I watched a lot of the Star Wars movies. I was inspired by the Emperor and since this film is a spoof I used a lot of his mannerisms
What is working with your cast like and any special moments from filming you can share?
For this film my part was shot in front of a green screen and I was the only actor on set. It was difficult acting like the other actors were there. The makeup effects took 2.5 hours to apply. I have a new found respect for the walkers from the Walking Dead.
How did you get into acting and what was your big break?
I won a featured walk on role for the HBO Show True Blood at a charity auction. I had so much fun I realized I wanted to make a go at some other roles
What do you look for when you consider a part?
What names are attached to the project and the filming locations. I live in Tuscaloosa Alabama so I like to be close to home.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love spending time with my Golden Doodles Elsa and Anna. I watch a lot of football also!
What other projects do you have coming up?
I have a couple of projects possibly coming before the end of the year. After just wrapping my 10thfilm in 14 months ,I need a vacation
