The remastered print for Full Moon’s Blu-ray release of Dark Angel: The Ascent makes Veronica (played by Angela Featherstone; HBO’s Girls, Friends) more than perfectly gorgeous. This release has been remastered in 16:9 and given a 5.1 Surround sound track and it has arrived in force, available for mail order, since Sept 15 and offers some wicked fun almost in the same vein of The Punisher or The Ghost Rider. This demoness has decided to make her mission in life one of banishing the bad guys, and sic what’s left of these people to her dog, Hellraiser. But when she meets a kind young doctor, Max (Daniel Markel), will love conquer all? Can she become a saint?
Enough has been said about this film since it’s original release in 1984. Featherstone certainly gives an alien performance that’s to be commended and the bloodshed is released by the bucketload.
Enthusiasts of Full Moon’s films will definitely want to own this cleaned up version. As Charles Band revealed in past interviews, he’s working on rereleasing as much of his company’s past catalog of films into a modern medium. Sure, while 4K is making dents in the consumer market, Blu-ray has become the norm and to find such titles like this one can certain show every angel, no matter how divine or nasty they are, can shine.
