We Preview The New Film Lion

Greetings & Salutations Fellow Movie Fanatics!

Every once in a while, you get a film that sees a lot of underground whispers and buzz. You hear talk of a film that has aspects similar to that of gravity and so forth. They drawn in people who are so taken with it that names both big and small become involved from actors to writers and producers to directors and so on. Today, we’ve got a brief glimpse at one of those films set for an upcoming release this Halloween.

‘Lion’ is the latest short film (currently in post-production) from Italian-born screenwriter and director Davide Melini well-known for his work as assistant director for Dario Argento’s “Mother of Tears: The Third Mother” and “Penny Dreadful”, whose won high praise for his 2011 short film “The sweet hand of the White Rose”, wrote and directed ‘Lion’. The premise hints at horror as well as thriller. The setting is an isolated chalet and a snow-covered, possibly English, forrest.

Inside are three individuals: A man blinded by alcohol, a woman who can’t find the strength to fight back, and an 8-year-old-child traumatized and dark. The silence of the night is broken by cries and a terrifying nightmare begins ……

The cast includes Pedro Sánchez, Tania Mercader and Michael Segal (“Colour from the Dark”, “Anger of the Dead”). The producers of ‘Lion’ include names connected to some of the biggest and most popular films of the last 20 years including Luca Vannella (“Thor”, “Harry Potter”, “Apocalypto”, “Heart of the Sea”), Alexis Continente (“Thor”, “Penny Dreadful”), Vincenzo Mastrantonio (“Titanic”, “Moulin Rouge”, “The Passion of Christ”, “Romeo + Juliet”), Bobby Holland (“The Dark Knight Rises”, “Game of Thrones”, “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows”, “007 – Quantum of Solace”), Ferdinando Merolla (“Troy”, “Gangs of New York”, “Hannibal Rising”), and Roberto Paglialunga. To top off the list of names behind the scenes, his director of photography is Juanma Postigo (candidate at the “Goya Awards 2016” for his job on the feature film “El violín de Piedra”).

If that were not enough, the film was shot with the Red Epic Dragon 6K. The first digital cinema camera to be tested and compared to that of the preferred stills cameras by filmmakers.

Needless to say, Melini has pulled out all the stops on his latest project and when someone with his accolades and reputation does exactly that then you know this is one to keep an eye on. It very well has the potential to be a great film. Below are links to a teaser trailer available on YouTube p and links to the films website, IMDb page, Facebook, and Twitter accounts.
