I got a chance to attend Casio’s Press conference at CES 2016, where the next big thing from Casio is their Smart Outdoor Watch. A watch that is good for trekking, cycling or for fishing.
If you’re out trekking, this watch can take readings to check the current outdoor conditions and determine your course of action for a care-free trekking.
It has a feature that can display accurate environmental information to give trekkers peace of mind. It measures directions, altitude and atmospheric pressure with easy push button operation. The results are useful for confirming the direction to your goal and predicting changes in the weather. Receive automatic notification of sunrise/sunset times and other fleeting occurrences. You can also monitor your accomplishment as you go and share the information with your companions where the watch will display the altitude remaining from current position to the goal, the elapsed time and your travel speed.
For those into cycling, whether on familiar roads or unknown places, ride with care free confidence. It has data such as travel speed, distance and time are always close to hand without taking out a smartphone. Receive reminders to stop for food and rest according to the distance and travel time. If you get lost or want to change the route, simply conduct a quick, easy voice activated search on google maps.
For fishing, users can get notified for the best times to cast off which really helps with planning the day and features a reliable guide navigate you to better fishing locales. Select your fishing method to suit the activity of fish as indicated by the atmospheric pressure tendency and high and low tides on the day concerned. The watch will calculate and displays the time frame in, which fish are active, and reminds you of the appropriate timing for fishing. Use the real time atmospheric pressure tendency display to predict sudden weather changes. Then respond appropriately to thunderstorms and other weather events.
The Smart Outdoor Watch is also equipped with a full component of outdoor specs to handle conditions across a wide range of activities. The smart watch has a built in microphone to achieve 50 meter water resistance. Its water resistant structure assures protection against wet conditions encountered in various outdoor environments, from sudden showers during mountain ascent to sweat while cycling or water spray kicked up when fishing. It is also built to military standard endurance to ensure its ability to withstand dropping shocks, vibrations and other demands of rugged outdoor use and to operate normally in a wide range of environments.
The display employs a dual-layer structure featuring a monochrome LCD and color LCD installed on separate levels. The dial switch as needed from the monochrome LCD with its continues time display, which maintains clear visibility even in bright sunlight to the color LCD with its rich, vividly colorful display of measurement information and applications. The use of two LCDs make it possible to maintain excellent visibility in any circumstances.
