Actress Linnea Sage talks to us about her popular web series Wildcats (www.catsgoingwild.com) which is snaring award nominations and acclaim at each corner.
What appealed to you about Wildcats?
The themes in WILDCATS are so current and real. The characters are so easy to relate to and the content hits home on some issues that are very relevant right now. It has a really positive message while also being hilarious.
Was there any preparation needed in order to play a cheerleader – maybe revisiting “Bring it On”?
I was a cheerleader for a bit growing up. I wasn’t an acrobat by any means, but I could shake a pom pom. Naturally, I watched Bring in On pretty recently in celebration of it’s 15th anniversary.
Did you expect such a staggeringly successful run for Wildcats, being an online series? I think a lot of people still underestimate the power and influence of a web series.
Nothing is a guaranteed success. We were just passionate about the project and were going to make it and love it and work hard on it no matter what. It is extremely amazing and fortunate that it got such a great response.
What have you been up to since the first season concluded?
WILDCATS was just awarded Best Discovery Series at Raindance Film Festival. We were nominated for five awards, and I was even nominated for Best Lead Actor! I’ve also been promoting another film, “The A Plate” which was recently picked up on some VOD networks. I’ve also got quite a few radio ads making the rounds!
What do you think Allison has been up to since the first season concluded?
I have a feeling Allison had a great summer vacation eating a lot of junk food, watching a lot of TV, and hanging out her best friends. Probably stirring up a bit of trouble, as well.
