Turtle Beach has long been known for their high-quality audio devices which bring a superior level of sound for gamers the world over. At CES 2015 we learned that the company was making inroads into keyboards and mice for gamers and I was anxious to see how their new offerings would be.
The Turtle Beach Impact 700 Premium Backlit Mechanical Gaming Keyboard is the first of the new offerings we tested. It is a full sized keyboard with 104 laser engraved which is ideal for users like me with larger hands as well as my pet peeve about letters that wear off the keys after use.
Speaking of the keys, they are Cherry MX Brown switches which provide a very satisfying response as well as a long a durable lifespan that will meet your gaming and desktop needs for years.
The impact 700 has two USB ports as well as audio ports which allows users to plug their devices such as a mouse and headset directly into the keyboard and the really clever feature of a six key rollover, anti-ghosting feature allows gamers to play without fear of missing moves by having their keystrokes overlooked.
The Impact 700 is very durable as the chassis is reinforced with steel and there is a gunmetal keycap plate as well.
Now that the physical aspects of the Impact 700 have been covered let us talk about the performance side of things.
The impact has a red backlit glow to it which can be adjusted to your desired level and this comes in very handy when gaming in the dark as you can easily see your keys at all times.
In games ranging from Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare to Wolfenstein: The Old Blood the Impact 700 shined as it was fast, responsive and allowed for some amazing gaming sessions. I also used the keyboard to do several desktop applications from web browsing to word processing, and once again it did an amazing job.
For those looking for a durable yet versatile keyboard, you will want to check out what Turtle Beach has done with the Impact 700, as it is truly a solid and impressive offering.
