On June 14th, Bethesda will host their first ever E3 conference in Hollywood, prior to the opening of E3’s main halls on the 16th. As someone who has covered conventions for years, I have always made Bethesda a part of our coverage at E3, and PAX Prime and fondly remember first looks at The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, The Elder Scrolls Online, RAGE, Wolfenstein: The New Order, and The Evil Within in recent years.
I remember their silver camper set as they promoted Fallout 3 at PAX Prime and as such, I am curious to see what they have in store. They have always had a sizeable and well-designed booth at the shows I have attended and have promoted their pending releases very well. So naturally I am intrigued as to what they have in store that is making them up the ante to do a showcase event beyond their always solid and highly effective booth displays.
As such here is my list of what I think we may or may not see at the upcoming Bethesda conference.
Fallout 4. There has been much talk of this game as well as a trailer by acclaimed director Guillermo del Torro has been rumored to be making a trailer to announce the game. One thing is for sure is that if this is announced; they could blow the lid off the venue for sure.
Doom: To me this is a no-brainer as they have already released a teaser trailer at Quakecon and they have teased the Beta with Wolfenstein: The New Order. Seems to be a safe bet we may see this one.
Battlecry: I am thinking we will see more of this since they promoted it at their shows last year. The game was lots of fun and I am looking forward to seeing what comes next.
It is at this point where things get very interesting as they will likely have more than three games to take up the time allotted for the conference even if they do have a few special guests along the way. We have seen that the format for a conference is to do an introduction, bring out a guest, introduce a game, show some clips, and then repeat the process.
So, what else does Bethesda have in store for us?
I would speculate that aside from some new IPs, they may have one or more of the following to announce.
RAGE 2: It is not of the charts to think this could happen as the DLC came out of nowhere and was a solid offering and showed that there was more life in the franchise.
Elder Scrolls: A new game or new content for the online game is possible and let us not forget that the console versions are still in the works.
PREY 2: The game was sent back to the drawing board a few years ago, it is possible that they have made some solid progress and are ready to show off the fruits of their labor.
The Evil Within 2: The game has been a solid success as has the DLC so it is possible this will be in the works.
I would have speculated about a new Wolfenstein but with The Old Blood recently being released I am not sure the timing is right to announce a new game.
Dishonored 2: I think it would be about time to for another entry into the franchise so perhaps now is the time for the announcement.
We may even hear about a system exclusive or timed exclusive as some have speculated.
Regardless of what Bethesda does announce, you can bet it will be something that fans will be excited for and we will be there bringing you all the great stuff from E3.
What are your thoughts for what we might see and what do you want to see announced?
