The Order:1886 Versus Bloodborne: Which Is The Next Big PlayStation Franchise

After a fairly quiet Fall, Sony is set to come out with a big one-two punch for the Playstation 4 system with the release of The Order:1886 and Bloodborne in the next few weeks.Although at first they may seem quite different, both games are very different in terms of their style, theme, and audience, yet have appeal that should allow them to be of interest to fans of the PS4 as well as action gamers.

I have played both of the games at PAX Prime and I have also played The Order:1886 a few more times recently at C.E.S. 2015 and I liked much of what I saw. I have outlined my experiences with The Order: 1886 extensively which you can read about here and here and you can read about my prior experience with Bloodborne here.

For this article I am looking at the two of the and seeing which of the two will be a bigger hit and lead to sequels in the immediate future. I am sure gamers and Sony would love for both of them to be a hit and for the titles to ensure plenty of follow ups for the next decade but like any game, the goal is to make sure the production and promotion costs are covered and that a profit is returned on their investment first.

Bloodborne is a dark and gothic game that has a very hack and slash gameplay style to it. I had memories of Dark Souls, Ninja Gaiden, God of War, Bayonetta and others come to mind when I played it. It has a dark and dangerous theme and the detail level of the characters and settings have to be seen to be believed.

With an oversized bladed weapon and a sneaky quick one shot gun, players can wrack up the mahem fast but they will have to show patience.

Climbing, jumping, and fighting is one thing but for maps that can change as you go along, fighting to survive is essential. I think this game has the potential to appeal to those who are not normally fans of the genre the graphics and tone of the game are sure to make you take a long look but for me the key will be how engaging it is long term as hacking and slashing the way through enemies can become monotonous over time if you do not have proper motivation and challenge which I trust will be enhanced by the co-op option.

The Order:1886 seems like a natural to be a hit as a shooter set in an alternate Victorian setting with all manner of weapons and monsters seems like a hit. Graphically it shines and despite some concerns about the gameplay many seem at least curious about the game and how the final product will look and play.

For me the idea that co-op and multiplay will be missing from the game is concern as I would love to slog through the game with other players and engage in challenges online. Who knows perhaps it can be added in later but I had thought the same about the last Wolfenstein game and we are still waiting.

The game will rise or fall in my opinion based on how much players will overlook some of the issues we saw like the need to quick press buttons, aiming, and the control schemes.

To be fair, they have been improved since the first time I played the game so I expect the final version will be as well.

I would suspect that The Order:1886 will be the one that gets all the attention first, especially in the U.S. and Europe, but do not be surprised if Japan and Asia embrace Bloodborne especially since it was developed in Japan.

Regardless of what the future holds for the games long term, PS4 fans can at least look forward to two intriguing and action packed exclusives to hold them over until Until Dawn is released.

Both look equally awesome, but Bloodborne edges it as it will be as good a Dark Souls with incredible next gen PS4 graphics.

Both are amazing, but it doesn’t matter which one is better, because they’re both PS4 games. PS4 gamers win, no matter which they choose.

Which is a stark contrast to the third – place Poverty Box which is offering no games, no features, nothing but lies, overhype and underdeliver for it’s low – IQ fanbase to delude themselves on.

For anybody wandering why the Xbox DONE was at the bottom of the sales charts every week, here’s your answer. PS4 releases top quality games every single month whilst the Trash – Box offers nothing but last – gen garbage and unfinished, sub – HD shovelware poverty.

I’m a ps4 gamer, but I have to say… This is the most unintelligent comment I have ever seen in my life. There is nothing wrong with the Xbox one, though in my personal opinion, the ps4 is better. For me. You don’t have to egregoriously banter on unintelligently about others preferences. I found your claim that xbone users have low IQ’s incredibly ironic; considering I am certain that my own IQ has dropped signicantly after reading your excrement of an opinion.

I am sorry I thought it was in response to the article not the opinion. I agree there is no need to take shots at a person over their console preferences.

i’ve been waiting for some must own exclusives to come out on Ps4, the X1 exclusives last year kept my gaming urges satisfied….. but The Order looks very disapointing… black bars, subpar aliasing…. 5 hours of gameplay riddled with QTE events? is this Ryse all over again?

Bloodborne however looks absolutely FANTASTIC and i can’t wait.
