Over the past 2 years, Knott’s Berry Farm and Susan G. Komen Orange County have been working together to raise money for breast cancer awareness, services and research. Between January 5 and March 27, 2015, Knott’s will issuing a special “Pink Ticket” and limited edition specially designed “pink” merchandise. Proceeds will be given to the Koman organization. Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, the parent organization of Knott’s Berry Farm, has raised nearly $1million for Susan G. Komen in the last five years.
Knott’s and Koman are reaching out to the Latina community in Orange County. Latinas historically have not taken regular screening, thus being diagnosed at a later stage. They are funding a mobile mammography unit to help raise cancer awareness and to screen Latinas at an earlier stage.
“We are honored to continue such a successful partnership with Knott’s Berry Farm,” said Lisa Wolter, executive director of Komen Orange County. “Without the ongoing support from our community, local access to breast health and breast cancer services for women and men would be nearly impossible. Knott’s gives us the opportunity to not only reach a diverse population, but to continue saving lives.”
