From Robert Rodriguez comes the action packed sequel to Machete, Machete Kills. Machete (Danny Trejo) is back and working with the American Government. As the President of the United States (Carlos Estevez also known as Charlie Sheen) calls to Machete for aid. Armed with Miss San Antonio (Amber Heard) as his handler, Machete is off to capture or even kill Marcos Mendez (Demian Bichir), a split personality drug lord who now threatens to destroy the world with missiles. With a device attached to his heart to go off if his heart stops beating. Machete must now find the creator of the device, Voz (Mel Gibson). As Machete tries to make his way across the border to get to Voz he is met with some interesting challenges along the way; with a bounty put on his and Mendez’s heads. A master assassin named El Camaleón (Walt Goggins, Cuba Gooding Jr., Antonio Banderas, and Lady Gaga) goes after them along with Desdemona (Sofia Vergara) the owner of the brothel, who is out for revenge for her daughter, Cereza (Vanessa Hudgens). Machete must make his way across the border to stop the Missiles from going off. With help from Luz (Michelle Rodriguez) and her crew, will Machete be able to save the world in time?
Now as action-packed Machete slinging movies go, this movie was awesome! With its campy banter and intense action scenes; it could turn anyone into a fan of this genre of film. The comedy that was laced into the film is what will keep the viewers’ laughs and attention. Also the gadgets were super neat with the “Swiss Army Knife” of Machetes to the armored car it was all really cool. The acting in Machete was pretty good too with a star studded cast that sure lived up to their statuses. Lady Gaga and Sofia Vergara definitely shined in their roles, showing the viewer how funny as well as badass they can be on the big screen.
As for storyline it was really interesting the way the movie played out from begin to end as it was fast paced; there were definitely no dull moments in this film! Also the villain of the movie was like a mix of Doctor No meets Doctor Evil, it was brilliant. What I think was so great about the storyline was that it kept the viewers’ attention. Since it was so fasted pace and actioned packed, if you looked away for a second you could miss something funny or intense. I would definitely recommend this movie to people who liked the first film, because if you liked Machete, then you will love Machete Kills.
