AskAusiello reports that The CW’s struggling remake of “Melrose Place” is undergoing a shake-up with cast members Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Colin Egglesfield being let go.
The murder of Sydney mystery storyline will be wrapped by the 12th episode and the producers are planning to swap the drama into a “more fun, romantic, sexy upbeat kind of show” which will include several new characters and a beefing up of Heather Locklear’s Amanda Woodward character.
The show hasn’t been granted a full season order but the network has given the show an additional five episodes (bringing it up to 18 episodes) to give it a shot.
The network has however given a full season order to “The Vampire Diaries”. The Kevin Williamson-produced thriller series has been a consistently strong performer for the network during a tough Thursday night of scheduling.
