How Skreens Can Bring Split Screen To Halo 5

You may have noticed the basic look of the site, well someone thought they would be cute and try to hack it, so we took the main theme down to add in some features.  So, until we restore the old one or do a new one, this is the look for the next few days.

Word is that Halo 5 will not have split screen gameplay, well the folks at Skreens have a fix for that as you can see below.

What is Skreens?

Skreens is a revolutionary way to experience all of your entertainment. Your gaming console, cable box, Blu-Ray, Roku, PC, Apple TV and anything else you’re switching between — now all of it can come online at once, on one display and all absolutely at your control. So you can finish your work with the game on. Catch the top sports plays while checking in with your fantasy roster. Fire up a web browser without needing a computer. And never take your eyes off what matters most to you.

Skreens works for gaming + watching

With Skreens, you can easily bring separate media sources — like gaming consoles, cable or satellite, and all of your streaming devices — together on a single display. You control every part of the presentation: scale up, scale down, reposition any window and save your layouts to always have the experience you want.

Skreens is amazing for streamers

With the Skreens NexusPro unit you can add transparency, cropping, chroma key and layering, so streamers get the most amazing kit available to produce even more amazing broadcasts.

Even the simple stuff is better with Skreens

The last thing anyone wants to do is keep turning away from the biggest display in their house to keep looking at the most active — but smallest — display, your phone. With Skreens, use the embedded, fully-featured Chromium browser to connect with any content you want.

Skreens Has Been Very Well Received

Skreens has been previewed at multiple PAX events to great response. This video compiles just a bit of the best feedback we’ve received so you can see how people that actually have seen the product react.

Audio Controls

Skreens supports audio on all inputs. The user can select the primary audio channel to transmit out the HDMI and optical S/PDIF outputs to your home audio system – all other audio outputs are available as streaming output via WiFi. You can stream audio channels to your iPhone or tablet to listen on your individual earbuds or headphones.

Skreens is powered by patent-pending innovation at the silicon layer — the Skreens Media Accelerator — which is both designed and manufactured here in the United States. This is one of the most powerful FPGA chips available, with the horsepower to blend together almost unlimited high definition streams into a single interface — all in real time. So you get zero lag along with the ability to customize virtually any part of the interface to combine windows from different devices or the web. And your favorite second- and third-screen experiences get seamlessly blended into an incredible, new first-screen experience.

The Problem We are Solving

Every one of us is constantly switching. Watching the game, but checking our phone. Typing away on our laptop while our tablet bleeps for attention. And every time we switch its because we just missed something important. When experiences are fragmented, they’re useless. Skreens solves this problem by bringing everything together into a seamless, simple user experience.

With Skreens, you choose how to spend your time and only watch what entertains you. Blend your content to suit you. Don’t find yourself choosing between streaming and chatting, watching the game or playing a game. Make yourself a better gamer by having all the tools you need one the screen, at one time when you’re competing: game, game guides, codes, videos and chat rooms. Be a more active sports fan as you can watch the game, check up on your fantasy roster and trash talk on Twitter. Watch the Oscars while browsing Pinterest…the possibilities are endless.

Assemble Your Layouts, Save at Will

Everything you create on Skreens is saved in your personal settings, so the web browser connected to the gaming console connected to your Skype session can all be put right back in place with only a tap. The Skreens Controller app for iOS and Android makes it absolutely trivial to navigate around the interface and assemble the experience you want.

For streamers, you can access the Skreens API directly to connect to your broadcast software. So you can stitch together everything you want in real-time into the composition you want.

Gigantic Preview And Beta Keys

! We are out of keys. If more become available, we will let you know.

We had some hands-on time with Motiga’s team-and-arena-based third-person shooter (phew!) Gigantic at PAX East, and I’m thrilled to report that Skewed ‘n Reviewed is now partaking in their closed beta!

Like most online arena-based games today, there are a lot of moving parts to Gigantic, but many great things that set it apart. Players pick from a range of fantasy heroes that all fill different roles and hop into a battle-ground to duke it out in the name of their gigantic guardian – hence the game’s name. More of a third-person shooter than a top-down traditional MOBA, the game is colorful and the pacing is swift.

Diving head first into a game is easy, but the kind folks at Motiga supply a pretty excellent tutorial for newcomers. The first thing you’ll notice is the lack of minions, something that’s become rather commonplace for MOBAs. There’s no need to farm for gold to buy gear. In fact, there’s no gear to purchase at all. Characters level up by taking out enemy heroes and by summoning or capturing monsters at waypoints throughout the map. All of this culminates in powering up your Guardian for an attack on the enemy’ Guardian. Once a Guardian has been knocked down, it’s up to your team to dish out enough damage to wound it. Score three successful wounds and it’s game over.

Each character’s unique abilities branch off into a mini skill tree, adding more firepower to your arsenal. For example, for several of my games, I selected an assassin-type character named Tyto. He can flip around the map, send his little pet to weaken his opponent, and can spin around whirlwind style for massive damage to multiple targets. As he levels, it’s up to you which of these traits you should strengthen. Are you a hit-and-run type of player, or do you like to dive in guns (or swords) running?

At present, matchmaking is fairly limited but gives a very good sense of things to come. During Quickmatch, you can select not one, but several heroes that you’d like to play. This is pretty nice, since it allows you to play the exact hero that you want to play. Once your team is assembled, you can change it up if you’d like, provided you do so within the time limit.

Common complaints about MOBAs are game length. Games such as League of Legends can drag on for an average of 45 minutes, not counting time spent selecting champions. Gigantic clocks in well under that time limit. Most of my games seemed to clock in around the 15 minute mark at most, which felt perfect.

Gigantic is currently running in closed beta on weekends for both Windows 10 and Xbox One. You can score a beta key by reaching out to us on Twitter (@SKNRGareth), e-mail at, or leave a comment below. Please note that the game is currently under an NDA, so while you’re free to talk about the game, streaming and posting of screenshots are not permitted.

Santa Monica, CA – September 24, 2015 – With the upcoming release of Call of Duty®: Black Ops III, the sequel to the best-selling series in Call of Duty® history, eSports is poised to expand to new audiences, while introducing new ways for fans of all skill levels to join the eSports movement. Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard (Nasdaq: ATVI),  and Call of Duty announced today the creation of the Call of Duty® World League, a worldwide eSports league by Activision in support of the #1 console eSports franchise, Call of Duty.  The new league marks an unprecedented commitment by Call of Duty and its dedicated eSports team to directly support the growing community of eSports fans. The program will provide a deeper level of engagement with the elite circuit of professional gamers, while also encouraging casual fans and aspiring competitors of Call of Duty to enjoy the thrill of competition across different skill levels.
“Call of Duty has always been about community, camaraderie and competition, which drives incredible engagement with the game all year long.  eSports allows us to deliver these moments to our fans whether they are playing the game themselves or cheering on those who are,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, Inc.  “Three years ago, we held the first Call of Duty Championship to showcase the dedication and skill of Call of Duty players around the world. Since then, eSports has become a global phenomenon with more than 120 million people watching online competitive gaming each year and Call of Duty continues to lead as the top console eSports franchise in the world.”
Call of Duty World League
The Call of Duty World League will be comprised of two Divisions – The Pro Division and The Challenge Division – each of which will feed into the grand finale of the competitive Call of Duty season, and the biggest event in console eSports, the Call of Duty Championship. Professional Call of Duty teams in North America, Europe, and Australia & New Zealand will battle throughout the year in regional competition during The Pro Division regular season to earn their ticket to the Call of Duty Championship, and will compete for the largest seasonal cash prizes in Call of Duty to date.  The Call of Duty World League Pro Division kicks off competition in January 2016 in North America, Europe, and Australia & New Zealand.
The Challenge Division will provide a path for amateur and other aspiring pro players to compete with each other and enhance their competitive skills as well.  The winning teams in The Challenge Division will also earn a spot in the Call of Duty Championship by competing in a series of official LAN events.
“Treyarch’s passion for competitive gaming precedes Call of Duty: Black Ops II, a heritage that inspired us to introduce dedicated eSports features into the franchise and one that compelled us to push the boundaries of Call of Duty: Black Ops III’s offerings beyond anything we’ve delivered before,” said Mark Lamia, Treyarch studio head. “While our global fan base of players range from casual to professional, they all share a desire to compete – some at the highest levels. With Call of Duty: Black Ops III, we are introducing a series of new features, like Arena mode that not only accommodate that diversity of play styles, but also let players see how they stack up against one another. Treyarch is giving the community of Call of Duty players new ways to compete and enjoy the thrill of competition.”
Call of Duty Championship
For the first time in its history, the Call of Duty Championship will move from spring to fall, taking place in fall of 2016 to give players an extended amount of time to hone their competitive skills in Call of Duty: Black Ops III through competing in the Call of Duty World League regular season.
With the Pro and Challenge Divisions of the Call of Duty World League there is an unmatched level of series and tournament combined prizing available. There’s more than $3 million on the line between series payouts, LAN events, and the Call of Duty Championship, making it is the biggest total prize pool for Call of Duty eSports, and more than triple the previous prizing.
Activision has formed a team dedicated to launching and coordinating the Call of Duty World League, which will start with the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops III.  Further details including broadcast, personnel and partnerships will be released at a later date.  For more information on the Call of Duty World League, announcements about the Call of Duty Championship 2016 and other Call of Duty eSports news go to  Fans can also follow @eSportsCOD on Twitter.

Karin Comes To Street Fighter V

Karin Kanzuki, last appearing in Street Fighter Alpha 3, is officially making her highly anticipated return to the series and has been confirmed for Street Fighter V. Attendees at TGS are invited to play the new demo build that includes Karin, in addition to all of the previously announced new and returning challengers:  Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Cammy, Vega, M. Bison, Birdie, Charlie Nash, Necalli, Rashid and R. Mika. The Street Fighter V roster count is now at 12… who will be next?

Also announced today, the Capcom Fighters Network (CFN) has been confirmed as the official community destination that will be integrated into the online infrastructure of Street Fighter V. Fans and players will be able to visit CFN at any time to view player profiles, match statistics, replay videos, as well as register friends and send battle invitations. About Karin
Behind Karin’s golden locks and razer-sharp wit lies a true martial artist trained in the unique “Kanzuki style” of fighting. Her well-rounded skills allow her to possess a full set of tools and deploy a wide array of strikes and maneuvers that will have opponents feeling the pressure. For fans who’ve longed for her return, or for those just looking for a quick fighter with lots of versatility, Karin is a welcome addition to Street Fighter V!
