EV.IO Brings Shooters To Low End PCs

It will be interesting to see how this goes.

Addicting Games, the largest online games site in the US, has announced the release of a new first-person shooter named EV.IO. The new game built for browsers is designed to perform well on low-end machines, including Chromebooks, making it highly accessible to gamers with any piece of hardware.

EV.IO’s gameplay and aesthetic are heavily inspired by “Bungee-style shooters” like Halo and Destiny, with futuristic environments, weaponry and abilities. The FPS mechanics go beyond simple “point and shoot” mechanics by giving players the option to spend points on different abilities which enable them to teleport, double jump, sprint faster and more. Most of the abilities center around movement. It is the movement in EV.IO that sets it apart from other FPS games.

“We’re so excited to release EV.IO to the world,” said Bill Kara, CEO of Addicting Games. “The team has been able to take all of the great components of first-person shooters and combine them into a game that’s not only free, but highly accessible. At Addicting Games we’re dedicated to continue bringing games that can fit the tastes of all kinds of gamers ranging from hyper-casual to the most hardcore. EV.IO is yet another step in the right direction of accomplishing this goal and we can’t wait for people to try the game out.”

For a browser based game, EV.IO has ground-breaking graphics that strike the right balance of form and function. The graphics scale with hardware allowing players with low-end machines, like an entry level Chromebook, to remain competitive with opponents playing on high-end machines. The game is launching with two game modes, deathmatch and team deathmatch, with an elimination mode coming soon. EVIO will also feature a seamless party system just like Fortnite or Call of Duty that allows you to easily play with friends and more game modes in the future.

The release of EV.IO comes at a time of massive growth with Addicting Games seeing traffic jump 450% year-over-year along with a significant lift in game downloads across iOS and Android totalling over 10 million worldwide for top games, like LittleBigSnake and the recently acquired game Mope.io, a popular massively multiplayer online creature survival title boasting an audience of more than 72 million across iOS, Android and web.
