Haunt Portal

Halloween often involved visits to area Haunted Houses in the days leading up to the 31st. I used to take part in some and cover others as my schedule allowed as the Seattle area was perfect with its mix of rain, cold, fog, and dark evenings.

As we moved to AZ to open our second office; we did a few area ones but transitioned to letting staff handle them as my wife and I focused on events such as Knott’s Scary Farm and Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights. Since we often take a cruise in late October, we had to assign staff to those events save for the years when our schedule allowed us to fit them in.

As 2020 has restricted many traditional Halloween events or eliminated them entirely; Haunt Portal has come up with a clever and creative way for people to enjoy some traditional thrills and chills from the comfort and safety of their home.

Starting with Pennhurts Asylum :Dolly and with other events to follow; up to six people can go through a virtual Haunted House complete with the sets, actors, and scares they would come to expect from area Haunted Houses.

The service allows guests to use their microphone and webcams to speak with and see one another as they go through the event from a POV style. My experience had me pushed around an Asylum in a wheelchair while a myriad of creepy and very disturbed individuals lined the halls which I was travelling.

The makeup and sets were good and there were lots of nice touches which really enforced the appeal of a group experience at a community Haunted House.

My ticket gives me access to the event for 48 hours which allows time for others to join in at a time of their choosing so you can enjoy the event solo, in a group, or with multiple groups over the 48 hours.

With more events coming up; it will be interesting to see what they have in store but for those looking for a nice Halloween event with their friends and family during isolation; check out
