That software number is some fake news. Super inflated.

What is your basis for saying this? I would think that with the world watching and all the media in place including some of our staff companies would know better than to fudge numbers.

What’s your basis for believing it? For starts its ONE number with all of the qualifiers left out. Sony was notorious for including bundle games. Not only did they for sure do that, they’re probably counting PS+ downloads and FTP. Which is wrong on every level.

Really dude. 106 units, 103 active. You’re not seeing how their math might be a bit fudged?

You’re trying too hard. And, despite that, it’s not working.

Why? If it’s really 106 millions consoles sold, the number looks very believable. That’s just 11 games per console. I have at least 40.

        Exactly.

You don’t understand demographics. For many people, like me and you, we do own a lot of games. The vast majority of gamers? Not even God damn close. The issue is that Sony was notorious for inflating units sold for software. They’ve done it every generation.

Active monthly users compared to the total units is ficticous. How on Earth does anyone believe that or take it seriously? Number is high? Two kids sharing a console. Number is low? Online isn’t as popular. It’s just a middle finger, desperately trying to stay on top while Sony proper bleeds money year over year. Inb4 someone calls me an xbot for stating the objective reality of the situation.

I only work with magazine, radio, and papers as well as film and games so yeah; iffy on demographics. So if they fudged the numbers as you claim; how come not a single legit news source has called them on it? AMD had a flub with the new Xbox and were called out fast. You say its fudged, ok show some proof? I look at the fact that none of the agencies or outlets who cover sales demographics have questioned this.

I have at least 70 to 80 games. My son has at least 30!

I would also point out that those numbers are very likely what were given to the investors so you know they take a dim view of numbers being faked.

Gareth you know people online just say stuff to get a reaction. If he’s old enough dude knows investors get these numbers so they can’t be faked.

True. I just try to reply to all comments unless they are way out there or hostile Trolling. In this case I figured it was just ignorance to the bigger picture.

As someone who does invest in various businesses, numbers are fudged all the time. There’s a lot of fine print to this and you took at a face value. The investors got the fine print, they’re happy. You? You ate this garbage up.

Sony bleeding money year over year isn’t healthy. This “dominance” (trying to out moneyhat Microsoft) will kill them. I’d rather Sony just be Sony. Wasn’t about the power. Wasn’t about any other hardware. It was just about a cheap console that had stupid good games. That’s why the PS2 flew off of shelves.

Show me a credible outlet saying it is fake and I will happily edit it with the information. We have over 5K in hits on this alone and you are the oy person who says the numbers are false.

With digital game sales going for a few bucks, I am not surprised games sold attach rates are at about 11 per console. I wonder if games like Fortnite being downloaded counts as a game sold, since it’s sold for free.
