La Quinta: Oceanside

During our recent visit to California we had the opportunity to stay at the La Quinta Inn Oceanside. Since we were able to travel a day earlier than planned; we wanted someplace for the evening with easy access to San Diego. We had been driving all day and aside from spending a few hours with family to the north; we were eager to get away from the highways and rest.

Our check in was very easy and we were given a room on the ground floor. The room was clean and comfortable and honestly was better than I expected for a value-priced hotel. While the locale did not have a Business Center; there was free Wi-Fi and plenty of stations to select from on the television.

While the bed was a bit firmer than we are used to; we still had a very pleasant sleep and my wife was able to get some work done online before breakfast.

The hotel offers a complimentary breakfast and I expected the usual mix of breads, cereals, juices, fruits, and so on. You can image how happy I was to see that eggs, bacon, Biscuits and Gravy, and make your own waffles were also part of the offerings. It was a really nice touch to be able to sit in the breakfast nook and take in the news on the mounted televisions while enjoying breakfast.

Sadly the weather in area was very rainy and we learned that SeaWorld and Knott’s Berry Farm were shutting down for the day so our plans had to be changed.

The hotel is close to numerous restaurants, the beach, shops, and freeway so there are plenty of options for guests to take advantage of during the stay.

Our check out was fast, friendly, and efficient, and there was ample parking for us. What really impressed me was how the locale offered amenities that you would usually only find at a higher-priced hotel. At a rate in the $75.00 a night range, it was appealing to have room with all the features as well as a hot breakfast with multiple options included.

If you want a value stay that is clean and comfortable and surpasses your expectations for a value hotel; the La Quinta Oceanside is one you will want to check out.
