Borderlands 3 Hands-On: E3 2019

While covering E3 2019: I had the chance to play the upcoming Borderlands 3. After a presentation which outlined a new character class  and the Planet Eden 6, we were ready for action. The new planet is similar to the Bayou area of Louisiana and has new creatures some of which look like Machine Guns, and Shotguns to cut through the enemies.

Some took cover behind destructible barricades while others leapt at me and were able to cover large amounts of space in a single bound. Thankfully there is also plenty  tricks players can deploy and I really enjoyed blasting a tub of toxic waste on a group of enemies and watch them melt while I picked off the other threats.

The game not only looked great but was fast and very responsive. Anyone who has played any of the prior games in the series will be right at home as the abundant weapons and crates abound.

As I entered the compound I made use of the Mech but noted that it could take more hits with it’s weapons to dispatch an enemy compared to what I  could do on foot. It was a great mix of options that really allowed me to shred through the level and I was happy to say that I knocked half the health of the final boss away before our time limit arose.

The humor and visual style of the series remains but Borderlands 3 keeps the abundance of gun and carnage players have come to love. Headshots had enemies erupting in a fountain of gore while body shots would have them jerk around and fall to  the ground before attempting to get up.

I did not get a chance to see the new ship nor any of the other planets the game has teased but September cannot get here fast enough as not only was Borderlands 3 great fun; it was one of the absolute best experiences at E3.
