Holiday Inn Express: Costa Mesa

Recently we took a trip to Southern California to do some stories for the site and magazine and had the chance to stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Costa Mesa, California.

Located a short distance from the John Wayne Airport and with easy access from the Freeway; the hotel had plenty of parking in a lower parking garage as well as some surface spots.

The Lobby was very clean and inviting and featured a store, a hospitality area with coffee and cookies, and a work center with computer access. There was also a large television in the lobby for quests to be up to the moment with the latest news.

Our check in was very efficient and friendly and after about 5.5 hours of driving; we were very happy to drop our bags off in the room.

The room was very clean and comfortable and featured a King bed, Flat Screen television with plenty of stations, Blackout Curtains, A safe, Microwave, Fridge, Coffee Maker, and other amenities such as free Wi-Fi.

After a short rest, we made our way to Downtown Disney to do a bit of looking around and grab dinner before we returned to relax at the hotel. We were happy to see that the gym was just down the hall from our room and that the hotel also featured an outdoor pool which is ideal for guests looking to relax after busy day. Newport Beach is also three miles away which makes the hotel ideal for those looking to take in the numerous sites and offerings in the local area.

The next morning we had to go to San Diego for another story and a cruise but the hotel sent us off in style with a complimentary breakfast. We had expected a basic Continental style offering but was amazed to see that eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, pancakes, and numerous other offerings were on hand which allowed us to relax, watch the news, read a complimentary paper, and get a fantastic start to the day.

Our checkout was very efficient and the staff could not have been nicer during our stay as they always greeted us as spoke with us whenever we went through the lobby.

The proximity to the Freeway was also great as despite being the morning Rush Hour, we were able to get on the road with no issues and made our way to San Diego with time to spare despite construction delays.

Costa Mesa has impressed us again with our second visit as it is a wonderful place to stay and visit and there are numerous dining and shopping opportunities to experience. While many may focus on some of the larger tourist attractions in the area, the great staff, offerings, and locale make the Holiday Inn Express Costa Mesa a great place to stay when in Southern California.
