Luke Tennie Talks Deadly Class
As part of our next magazine issue; I did an interview with Luke Tennie from Deadly Class. The show can by seen on SyFY and here is a portion of the interview as the full one will appear in the magazine next week.
As it comes to your character; do you use the Graphic Novel as a basis or do you prefer to work with the script and your own interpretations?
Great question! I like both. The comics are the life blood of the show. The whole show is based on the graphic novel so I think it’s important to use that as a source. However, the show is what we’re shooting now. So although the comics are important to draw from, the script takes precedent. We have a story to tell and we’ve all got to be on the same page.
The show has been intense and at times dark, what can you tell us about the direction going forward?
I can promise that both the intensity and the darkness will grow significantly. It’s important to remember that while Marcus is the hero of our story, this story is not about the heroes. That’s the point. It’s about how people become villains. How people use noble justification to ease their minds when they do the things they promised themselves they never would. This is the birth of the bad guys. That said, no villain ever THINKS they are one, so it’s a deep exploration into how we not only view law and morality, but how we view human nature. And anything seeking to dig into our nature doesn’t stay bright for long…
What are your plans for San Diego Comic-Con this year and do you get a chance to look around or enjoy any part of it before or after your panels and roundtables?
YES I DO! I love anime, so I’ll probably visit the Shonen Jump booth and buy myself an action figure… or nine.
