In 2018, SeaWorld San Diego alone aided more than 1,000 animals: 931 birds, 119 California sea lions, 22 elephant seals, 11 harbor seals, 10 Guadalupe fur seals, five sea turtles, three northern fur seals and one dolphin. In addition, the San Diego Rescue Team also responded to three large-whale entanglements. As the 2019 rescue season gets into full swing, SeaWorld is once again ready to come to the aid of ill, injured, abandoned or stranded animals along the beaches of San Diego, and reminds members of the public who see a marine animal that appears in need of help to call SeaWorld’s Rescue Hotline at (800) 541-SEAL (7325) or report the stranding on the park’s website.
