Casa de Reyes: San Diego

During our recent visit to San Diego, we got to dine at Casa de Reyes in Old Town and had a wonderful and unique dining experience.

The restaurant is located in the courtyard of a shopping center where you can find authentic Mexican goods, candy, foods, and more. You can watch ladies make tortillas by hand or enjoy the live music and fire pits that enhance the area.

Once seated, our waiter Eddie was very attentive and went over the menu with us. We selected some amazing starters which included a sampler platter before moving onto our main courses.

The Fajitas and Carnitas were very good as they were very fresh, flavorful and the rice and beans that accompanied them made for a very filling dinner.

As we ate we were able to enjoy the beautiful weather and music that was being played near us and really enjoyed not only the food but the ambience of the locale.

I had thought I had visited the locale many years earlier on my first trip to San Diego, and our server Eddie went over the history of the locale with us as he attended to us.

The portions were very big and we could not finish the plentiful servings we were given but we were able to take our leftovers with us and decided to try some dessert.

We opted for the amazing Fried Ice Cream and Churros and we enjoyed them as the evening turned into night which only intensified the beautiful and unique setting of the restaurant.

The restaurant offers a full menu with several options including a children’s menu and breakfast.

Guests can enjoy dishes ranging from Burritos and Tostadas to more traditional cuisine. Based on the fantastic food and service we had during our visit, I can easily see Casa de Reyes becoming a new tradition for us whenever we are in town.
