War Robots

Greetings & Salutations Everyone!

In all the bizarre craziness that has come to define the Year of 2017 it occurred to me it’s been some time since I presented a suggestion/review for a mobile game. So after a pot of coffee, a piece of cheesecake, and 4 hours of browsing through games in the app store I finally stumbled upon a game that might just peak your interest especially you’re fans of Pacific Rim, RoboTech, or Volton only without the monsters.

‘War Robots’ is a real-time multiplayer vs. multiplayer game from Pixonic LLC that pits you and five other players against an opposing team also consisting of 6 players in a no-holds-barred street fight between giant robots! You can select between 24 different gigantic battle bots and more than 20 types of weapons ranging from missiles and energy weapons to plasma-based offensive capabilities to suit your skills. Annihilate your enemies and complete the tasks at each stage to earn credits towards weapons upgrades for your battle bot or save to acquire an arsenal of battle bots in your hanger for specific missions and battles. Like many of the top-rated games available, the game itself is free however you can make online purchases at the in-game store to acquire extra credits, storage space for your contingent of battle bots, or put the money towards whole new bots. You can also form clans to support one another in battle and watch each other’s back.

The game is best suited for tablets in my opinion but it is available for Android as well as Apple phones. The graphics are very reminiscent of SEGA arcade games of the mid-90s and are sharp, clear, and include amazing details within the graphics. The controls do take a bit of getting used to and there doesn’t appear to be any assisted or auto guided targeting for the weapons but that just means you have to up your own skill. All the better in my opinion. If the game is THAT easy, it’s NOT worth playing in the first place. The game requires 494 MBs of space with a secure and steady internet connection. The game carries a rating of 12 years of age + rating for intense fantasy violence requires iOS7 or later software or corresponding Android equivalent. I’d give this game a rating of 4 out of 5 stars. My only beef with the game is that there appears to only be vertical control of the battle bots weapon systems but no vertical control so you have to navigate your battle bot to as specific a firing position as you can before attacking your opponent. However, as I said earlier; practicing to up your own skill level makes you that much better of a player so I’d definitely recommend this one for your tablet.
