The intro of the game showcases the environment very well. While pretty lengthy, I was intrigued by the mechanics I would soon be playing. The ships, appealing in nature, lit up the screen. They truly felt like a beacon of life in a barren sea. The only thing that I could really complain about in the intro would have to be the voice acting, while stiff and dull, it took away from the beauty of the overall esthetics.
Once the cutscene was over, I dove straight into the game. One drawback was the controls. While not terrible, they were finicky at times. Turning around was painful but I trudged on. Getting over the flying mechanics I was pleasantly surprised with the weapons. The targeting was simple, and with the different weapons just a click away, I was happy with the overall offensive in the game.
Overall, the game is still in early access. Seeing their commitment to the community and how much the game has been changing, I’m excited to see where it goes next. If you do get this game, there is no guarantee that your saves will be usable with each update. Knowing this, I moved onto the free roam. With two options, one geared towards late game, I was happy to see that I could play with late game “toys.” A fun way to spend a few hours, but ultimately I can’t wait to see what happens with the game. WIth a lot of potential, I will definitely be revisiting in the future.
