Samurai Warriors 4-II Gameplay Video And Review

Samurai Warriors 4-II is a re-imagining of Samurai Warriors 4 of course made by “Warriors” series creators Koei and Omega Force. I’ve never played the original so this is an all new experience to me and it’s not a bad one. As a matter of fact I’ve had more fun with this Samurai Warriors then I’ve had with any of the “Warriors” games.

From the get go the game offers a story set in Japan. You choose different your own story and your own clan of characters characters and there is a lot of them. To be completely honest I was lost I didn’t realize any of the characters that they wanted me to know except Oda Nobunaga (who the game is based around) I can’t really decide if he’s a villain or not I guess it really depends on what clan you choose, Now this is really interesting but in my opinion it really doesn’t keep things consistent and many games (especially Warriors games) do this and I dislike it I want to progress in the game whilst unlocking other characters, I’m essentially looking for a linear experience that I didn’t get. I’m not to keen on telling stories and I want you guys to figure everything out on your own but every character has their own story that connects in some way (My favorite being a pink haired lady named Koshosho) they’re all interesting in some way.

I can talk about the combat in this game all day, it’s so fun. I’m addicted to the actual gameplay. Supposedly there’s new combat elements added in this version but again I have yet to play the previous installment so I’m unable to compare the two. I guess you compare it to all other Warriors games but this feels more responsive and loose, there’s a character creation system which is pretty vast as well and you can use customize your characters with weapons from existing characters and that’s a really good way to test out who and what you’re good with I highly suggest it to newcomers. Combat consist of your standard Warriors controls, there’s two specials and a special mode you get up by gaining a special meter. You can use your first special while in the special mode and it’d be another special, they really set the bar to make each attack & special feel unique it’s a really good feeling when you destroy tons of enemies with one attack. Now you can equip a horse or mount and go places faster but Christ is it annoying, you have to call it and it always runs off when it’s supposed to stop for you to get on the mount but it doesn’t stop it goes batsh*t insane it can be really annoying so I suggest walking if you don’t wanna deal with that. Aside from that this game gives you an amazing combat experience that can only come from Koei & Omega Force.

From start to finish Samurai Warriors 4-II offers tons of fun gameplay and really intuitive action that anyone can just pick up and play for just about hours on end. It’s a shame the Warriors games don’t get a lot of attention in the west because it really does deserve it. They’re all really great games that I love so deeply, I ask that you guys pick up this game. Don’t expect the Citizen Kane of video games but expect tons of enjoyment in this beautiful game.

4.5/5
