Toren

Toren is abit of a mind boggler but in a good way, the game offers a story that seems more of a indie film than a game. I can’t say anything without spoiling the game completely but you play as Toren as she climbs a tower to defeat a dragon (Believe me the story is way more complex than that) it’s really poetic and religious and that’s the upside of the game. However a 2 hour game at best but one that deserves the time if you’re into very poetic games such as this one.

It’s animation is really stellar I’m in love with the storybook like design to it but of course there was a limit, the game has a number of glitches but you can excuse it since its not a full retail game. I would love to see storyboard art for the cutscenes and concept art. It’s really colorful and pleasing to look at, *when you’re not glitching through the floor* the tone of the story really fits the art style they went with.

The gameplay is your standard platformer with puzzles that were hard until you find out something simple that’ll help you and make you go ‘Oooh’ there’s really not that much to say about the gameplay when it’s only 2 hours at best. Last thing to say on gameplay is that there are these parts where you have to put sand on a certain shape on the floor in a dark while the light flickers every 15 seconds it’s a real hassle and that’s not a real flaw just a complaint that I had that’ll most likely give others problems.

The final thing to say about this game is that it’s really good, there’s no game I’ve ever seen like it. This is an indie game worth checking out if you don’t wanna play the game at least be motivated for the ending, It’ll leave you speechless. A film adaptation can’t be far behind
