An Abundance of Xbox One Units At Reatil Indicates Lower Demand Than Expected

One week ago today I ran a story on a Costco in Chandler, AZ which claimed they could not move the new XBOX One units. The same store had said how they sell out of the PS 4 units as fast as they get them and are unable to meet demand.

At locales in AZ, NV, CA, and WA, the Xbox One unit has been easily found at stores such as Costco, Best Buy, Target, and Gamestop, yet aside from a brief sighting at the AZ Costco where the images below were taken, the PS 4 has been as rare as Bigfoot.

It appears that Microsoft has greatly misjudged the demand to date for their new system.

The picture on the left was taken on 2/15/14 and the one on the right was taken today 2/22/14 The clerk when asked said they had not restocked and this is the same pallet that was out last week. With the PS 4 selling out in Japan and currently leading the Xbox One in sales at a growing margin, one has to wonder what Microsoft will do next to try to counter the growing lead of the Playstation 4. Many point to TitanFall as a potential savior but seeing as the game will be available for PC and the Xbox 360, consumers may not see the game as enough reason to purchase the system.
