Walking With Dinosaurs

Review by Jennifer Fiduccia

Walking With Dinosaurs is a HUGE movie.

What I mean is, the scenes are just, well, BIG.
It works in 3D SO well, I can’t imagine seeing it any other way.

The main characters are Patchi, (voiced by Justin Long), Alex (voiced by John Leguizamo), Patchi’s brother Scowler (voiced by Skyler Stone) and Juniper (voiced by Tiya Sircar).

The story revolves around a herd of
Pachyrhinosaurus, and their struggles in their migration and day to day survival.

Patchi is the runt of the litter and is further marked as ‘different’ by a hole in his frill that whistles.

After their parents are killed, their mother in a fire and their father protecting them from a carnivorous dinosaur, the two young Dino’s must find their way in the herd and in life.

Scowler is mostly brawn and no brains and when as an adult he challenges the herd leader and wins, he leads the herd into danger over ice not strong enough to hold them. Patchi saves most of the herd but when they all meet up again, Scowler beats Patchi in a fight and banishes him from the herd.

Patchi almost gives up but his friend Alex convinces him to not lay down and die for no purpose. When Patchi finally catches up to the herd and finds Juniper, who he loves, he is trying to convince her to come away with him when the whole herd is attacked by meat-eating dinosaurs.

Without giving too much away, Patchi saves the day and again leads the herd to safety.

I loved the movie. I thought it was grand and majestic. It kept my son entertained and scared him only once when a 3D animal jumped off the screen ‘at’ him.
I liked that it gave Information throughout the movie on what kind of dinosaurs were in it, with their names and what they ate.

I would rate it 4 out of 5 stars.
