Last Vegas

by Jennifer Fiduccia

Last Vegas was a movie I went into without very high expectations. I HOPED that it would be good, but I didn’t EXPECT it to be great. I was surprised in great way. I don’t think that there was ever more than a 7 minute stretch without some audible laughter from somewhere in the audience.

The cast was top – notch, the four main characters are Sam (Kevin Kline), Archie (Morgan Freeman), Paddy (Robert DeNiro), and Billy (Michael Douglas). They are age old friends, and have been best buddies since childhood. Time, age, and circumstances have taken their toll on the relationships, and there are some bad feelings that must be overcome between Paddy and Billy

The story unfolds during a trip to Vegas to throw Billy a bachelor party after he announces he will be marrying a MUCH younger woman. Archie comes out almost $100,000 ahead after playing a round of blackjack, and proceeds to throw the biggest party the Flatbush Four have ever seen.

There are a ton of laughs, and truth be told, I even cried at one point! This movie is this generation’s “Grumpy Old Men” with 4 friends rather than 2, and I literally loved every minute of it.

5 out of 5 stars.
