SPOILERS AHEAD

Last season ended on the cliffhanger of MI5 Section D chief Harry Pierce (Peter Firth) being kidnapped by FSB London head Viktor Sarkisian and soon after a terrorist group posts up footage of Harry’s apparent execution on the internet.

Ros (Hermione Norris) doesn’t believe it and so she, Lucas North (Richard Armitage) and the rest of the team go in search of him with the help of an old friend who returns to the Grid and is afraid for her life – Ruth Evershed (Nicola Walker). Genevieve O’Reilly joins the cast this season as a CIA liaison whom becomes a romantic interest/foil for Lucas.

The main storyline of the season has MI5 trying to stop ‘Nightingale’, a clandestine group of businessmen, politicians and ex-spies aiming to ignite a India-Pakistan nuclear conflict and trigger a new wave of disaster capitalism (using post-crisis fear to reshape whole countries and economies).

The series will air its eight-episode run through til mid-December. No US broadcaster currently airs the series, but the seventh season is scheduled for DVD release States-side on January 26th.
